While I'm not mainstream in the slightest, I'm still not a big indie music listener. However, Driftless Pony Club is one of my favorite indie artists. Their music is wonderful, and very addicting. If I were to make any complaints, it would be that the beginnings to a lot of the songs are kind of offsetting. I didn't enjoy most of the intros, but the songs grew into epic pieces as time passes. Great CD, looking forward to future releases.

I love this CD SO MUCH! Every time I put it in I have to listen to it more than once because I cant stop. The first day I got it I put it on repeat and played it about 10 times through. It's beyond fantastic. Every song is amazing.

Okay, I don't know much about music theory, chords, rhythms, keys or even music terminology, but I do know when I like the music I listen to and Expert is great! I had heard several tracks before the receiving it, but after listening to the full CD, I have to say I love it! Thoroughly enjoy every track and it's hard to say which I liked best. Maps, Pluto, Bike, Earthquake, all equally energetic and fun to sing a long with. Matt, Sam, Craig, and Nate have a lot to be proud of. You guys ROCK!

I think the best part about "Expert", and DPC being signed to DFTBA in the first place, is that they are just so damn refreshing. It's not songs about Doctor Who, or parodies of Miley Cyrus songs, or anything like that. It's a "real" band (that's not to say that Chameleon Circuit or Dave Days aren't real, but let's be honest, here!), making "real" (don't hate me!) music. And it's brilliant. All of it is great.
Great guitar riffs, great lyrics, great band. A+, guys.

Ahh! this EP is sooo good! I've been playing it on my car every single day! Compared to they're 2 previous albums (Janel,Cholera) i think "Expert" is by far the best. not one of the songs on the EP makes you go "Meh,lemme change to the other song" all songs are just really good! My favorite two tracks are probably "Pluto VS. Neptune" and "Maps of Low Fidelity"

I instantly fell in love with DPC when I heard their second album, "Cholera" (so much so that I'd put it in my top 5 full-length albums of all time), so I was both ridiculously excited and rather nervous when I placed Expert into my CD drive.
But not only does Expert meet all expectations set by DPC's previous album: it far exceeds them.
Expert gets off to a flying start with "Legends of Archery" - an incredible opening song with a memorable riff and a foot-stomping beat.
Next follows "Pluto Vs. Neptune" - a song about an argument between the two planets. It sounds rather comical on paper but the lyrics are so brilliant ("We're tons of matter and it doesn't matter a ton") it's impossible not to be taken in.
"Imaginary Blood" follows and is probably the odd-one-out in this EP. It feels quite different to the rest of the tracks but is actually all the better for it. If you own a set of air-drums, be prepared for some major arm-waving action...
Next up is "Bike". Ahhh, "Bike". The phrase "Best. Song. EVER!" is highly-overused but... Best. Song. EVER!!!! The composition of this song is incredible - a sterling example of organised musical chaos. This song symbolises everything that Driftless Pony Club is: expertly-crafted, electrified sound layered with cryptic, thoughtful lyrics. Stunning.
"Thanks, Earthquake" follows a similar vein to "Pluto Vs. Neptune" in that it appears extremely comical at first ("Earthquakes are so polite / They tip their hats as the ladies go by") but soon opens up to something awe-inspiring. By the time you get to the bridge (with probably the best lyrics on the whole CD) your jaw will be on the floor.
The final track, "Maps of Low Fidelity" is, sadly, probably the weakest on the EP. That's not to say that it's bad (it's great!), it just feels a little awkwardly-placed. After the mind-blowing lyrics and music of "Bike" and "Thanks, Earthquake" it feels like they're holding something back.
So yes, Expert is simply incredible and probably the best use of $6 you can find. That's not to say it will appeal to all musical tastes - but to those who like it, it's hard to find anything better.

Every track on this EP is memorable, with great melodies, hooks, and clever, inspired lyrics. I defy you to listen without tapping your foot, bobbing your head, and ultimately joining in and singing along. The band's energy spills off the CD, and my favorite tracks change with every listening.
